What is NorthWest MogFest?

NorthWest MogFest is one of the largest gatherings of european off-road trucks & enthusiasts in North America. NWMF is not a typical “trucks in the mud” thing, its a invite-only gathering of friends and enthusiasts, more like a family reunion. NWMF is open to all owners and enthusiasts of european off-road trucks, so if you have a Pinzgauer, Unimog, Syncro, Hanomag, or whatever we hope you will join us!

NWMF is about participation, it is not a “spectator event”. Whether you own a truck or not we want you to come and get involved and become part of the NWMF family!

(SOMEWHAT) SCHEDULED EVENTS:

There are very few organized activities and nobody is going to tell you what to do, instead we provide a time and place, its up to you to fill in the details. However there is a general schedule as follows:

  • Friday (12th) through Wednesday (17th) – Early arrivals, plotting, scheming… Barnyard Drive-in movies, untraditional costume night, Backhoe lessons, Em’s B-day party, mock-German language lessons. Oh yeah, Unimogs fit in there somewhere too…
  • Thursday (18th) – Campout at Trask and/or TSF, hobo pies around the campfire, lies and BS.
  • Friday (19th) – Trailride at Trask, TSF, or just hang out on the farm. Return to the farm in time for dinner
  • Saturday (20th) – The Big Day! breakfast, farm wheeling, showing off, group dinner…
  • Sunday (21st) – breakfast, hanging out, heading home…

TSF Campout & Trailride:

Bring yer hobo-pie gear!

The TSF Campout/Trailride… Pros: fun campout, campfires allowed, good socializing and fun wheeling. Cons: trying to keep a mile-long convoy of trucks moving through the woods… The TSF trailrun has always been fun as well as a challenge, structured events at NWMF are not what we do best. So in lieu of an “official trailride” we instead are encouraging people to self-organize and do what suits themselves.

NWMF campsite scouts will be at Browns Camp in TSF Thursday and will have trail maps available, and Thursday afternoon/friday morning we *strongly* encourage people to self-organize into smallish groups and hit the trails. There is a lot of good terrain to explore and we only see a fraction of it..

More details about the area can be found on the Tillamook State Forest OHV page

Meals:

NWMF is a social event, if you miss the meals you miss half the event! Along with good grub comes announcements, entertainment, socializing, good times…

Dinner will be served on Friday, three meals Saturday, and breakfast on Sunday. Previous event meals have included jambalaya, french toast, salads, peach cobbler, and other treats. You are welcome to bring food to share, but please contact us first so we can coordinate with existing plans.

(TOTALLY) UNSCHEDULED EVENTS…

Obstacle Course/Farm Wheeling:

During the weekend Waldersee Farm is your playground; there are hills to climb, a dry creekbed to explore, and a river to cool off in. During the last few years we have been building an obstacle course and each year it gets bigger and better. This year you can expect a more challenging ‘big pit’ as well as more obstacles for syncros, 303s, and “shiny vehicles” that don’t want to hit the big stuff.

Garage Sale:

Got some old mog junk laying around? Looking for more junk? There will be a swap meet/garage sale area where you can swap stuff with other moggers.

NWMF Fahrschule:

Interested in driving one of these trucks? Got a truck you want to show off? Once again Waldersee presents: Der Fahrschule, where we encourage truck owners to share their pride and joy by getting as many non-owners behind the wheel as possible. “Prizes” will be awarded for the most “generous” vehicle owners and most ambitious students…

Mog Movies:

Mogstink has moved on, but we stole their TV set and DVD collection… We have a self-serve outdoor mog-movie theater, bring your videos on VHS or DVD to share with everyone. Early in the week we will be having barnyard drive-in movie night with movies projected on the side of the barn. Bring your own popcorn!

Trucks for sale / Unimog dealers:

If you are in the market for a truck, or have one for sale this is a good opportunity to connect with other buyers & sellers. Many of the big importers will be at NWMF as well, giving you a chance to meet in person and discuss future opportunities.

Camping:

While there are hotels nearby, most people camp at Waldersee Farm. There is plenty of room for everything from tents to tractor-trailers. Port-a-potties, camp showers, and wash facilities are provided. If you (or your family) are set on a Hotel we can recommend nearby facilities, but please be aware that this is a busy weekend in the area and many places will be booked in advance.

Costs:

NWMF is not a commercial event, it is a gathering of friends… As such there is no cost to attend. If you enjoy the event and want to help offset the costs it is at your discretion to make a gift to the property owners to help fund things such as food, porta-potties, equipment rental, etc.

OTHER NON-MOG STUFF:

Unlike that last event you dragged your family to, your non-mog focused family members will actually have fun at this one! There is a river for swimming, blackberries to pick, a farm to explore, as well as lots of nearby vacation-type stuff to do (beach, mountains, wineries, the Oregon Country has it all!)

Some highlighted local distractions:

Airplanes?

20 minutes from Sheridan near the McMinnville airport is the Evergreen Aviation Museum which hosts the Hughes Spruce Goose. More information is available at: http://www.sprucegoose.org/
